At young age Drs .Mrs. J. Shah came to The Netherlands as a model, Fashion designer and master in Psychology. But The Family business was, and still is specialised in Jewellery and Ancient Art from India, Nepal and Tibet. Mrs. Drs. Shah had an interest in this branch, once arrived in The Netherlands she specialised herself in art and archaeology, history and culture of south Asia and Sanskrit at the University in Amsterdam. She worked from 1978 through 1982 within the family business and after that became a strong business women within this market.
Her specialisation is still antique jewellery and antique objects from India, Nepal and Tibet, 25 years later, you will find a great collection of bronzes, stone statues, ivory and jewellery consisting of Hindu and Buddhist objects. Since 1990 Drs. Mrs. J. Shah has been designing amazing gold and silver modern jewellery set with precious and semi precious stones.
On the occasion of the 25ft jubilee, Galerie Petillon launched a new project which consists of modern Contemporary art from India. This fresh introduction contains paintings from academic upcoming artists, as India has become a world wide art country.
